The sale marks a meaningful return of the land to the Pauma Tribe, reconnecting expansive farmland, orchards, and ranch acreage with the valley’s ancestral residents. The name “Pauma” originates from an Indigenous word meaning “a place where there is water,” reflecting the region’s rich natural resources and the life-giving San Luis Rey River that flows through the valley.
